Mar 10, 2018 Backwoods cook preparation... how to setup a fire easily and efficiently @ Nai Chung BBQ Site
This week, we move our scout meeting from school to Nai Chung BBQ Site. We start to learn backwoods cook from beginning ~ how to setup a fire efficiently with nature materials. Scouts learn how to pick the right nature materials as setup, use of matches / fire steel to start a fire. Beside how we put the charcoal, we also learn the wind direction and how we blow in oxygen to maintain the fire is essential. Also, we have to sharpen the bamboo stick for BBQ. Although we practice all these skills before but it is always better to learn from basic.

We are very lucky this year, the weather during the past weekend (Jan 27-28, 2018) is warm without any rain drop. The weather is just perfect for runners and overall runners run much faster than last year. Event organizer try to promote Green concept to all participants this year and we can see the waste of disposable cups / containers dramatic reduce. Especially cup noddles replace by farfalle this year prevent lot of food waste. Although we are very busy whole night and not many of us can sleep more than an hour and some even not sleep at all. However, we complete the tough task with lots of fun. Once again thank you to all scouts, leaders and parent helpers who provide support to the event and wish to see all of you again next year.
Once again, it is our honor to has Steve (founder of Vibram HK100) come to our school to provide the briefing of Volunteers work to all scouts. We all look forward to participate such a fantastic well known event of Hong Kong.

With such a great scout leaders and Christmas / hiking camp committee, we have a fantastic and remarkable camp ever. We complete the whole Pak Sin Leng hiking on Dec 9, 2017. Scouts divided into 6 patrol groups and each of them helping & encouraging each other. They complete all tasks and activities within the given time. We overcome all the difficult tasks as a group. We manage to arrange 3 different types of camp at the same time while we still meet each other at some point. Glad to hear lots of scouts look forward for an even more challenge activities next time. Bravo!!!
Every year Scout will pay an important role to the Annual School Fair. With the leadership of Peter Halliday and groups of leaders, we will build an Aerial Runway and Monkey Bridge for people to play during the date. Scouts take shift from Nov 29 - Dec 2, 2017 daily to split up on different task. For scouts who help on first day, they have to transfer all bamboos from the storage place at Ground Floor all the way up to PAC Rooftop playground. Following days will be the actual pioneering jobs as well as School Fair date responsible for the game in a good order. The main purpose of the involvement is to bring the awareness for our scouts to contribute and take responsibility while having fun to achieve something as a group. Team work is the key to make it succeed!!!
